We're building it carefully

Wordman is a word game for children who are learning to read. It isn't ready yet. We're two parents in Scotland building it slowly and properly, and we're not in a hurry.

Each round starts with a spoken clue. Your child works out the unknown word and builds it using the phonics they learn at school, from individual letters to digraphs and split digraphs. Once they solve it, they hear the word, its definition and a fun fact.

At the end of a level, the I'm finished option offers a calm, supported way to stop, helping your child put the game away.

While we build, we also write about phonics, words and how children learn to read. We hope parents and teachers find it useful.
