Privacy notice for Wordman blog emails

This notice is about the optional Wordman email list, not the Wordman app.

Effective date: 14 August 2026

Haar Apps Ltd is the controller of the personal data described below.

1. What we collect

If you sign up, we collect your email address. EmailOctopus also records information needed to operate and protect the list, such as signup and confirmation status, timestamps, the form used, delivery or bounce status, and unsubscribe activity. Its servers receive ordinary technical request data, such as an IP address and browser information, when the form or confirmation link is used.

The form is for adults. Please do not submit a child’s email address.

2. Why we use it

We use your address to email you when a new Wordman blog post is published, usually once or twice a month. We do not use the list to advertise unrelated products, and we do not sell the list.

Our legal basis for sending these emails is your consent. The signup uses double opt-in: after submitting the form, you must confirm your address before you join the list. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email.

We process limited technical and delivery information where necessary to operate, secure and maintain the list and to honour unsubscribe requests.

3. Who processes the data

We use EmailOctopus, operated by Three Hearts Digital Ltd, to collect subscriptions, store the list and send emails on our behalf. EmailOctopus may use its email-delivery providers when a message is sent.

EmailOctopus says contact lists are stored in Ireland and its sending servers are in the EU. Where its service providers process data outside the UK or EEA, EmailOctopus says it applies appropriate safeguards. See the EmailOctopus privacy policy for more detail.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your subscription record while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we may retain the minimum information needed to record that choice and make sure we do not add the address back without fresh consent. You can also ask us to delete your data, subject to any information we must retain to meet legal obligations or protect your unsubscribe request.

5. Your rights

You can ask us for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, or a portable copy where the law provides those rights. You can withdraw consent or object to direct marketing at any time.

To exercise a right, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

6. Contact and changes

Questions about this notice can be sent to [email protected]. If we materially change how the list works, we will update this notice and its effective date.

For the children’s app, see the separate Wordman app privacy policy.
